In display case 17, a wonderful example of a black-figure vase is the large amphora with, on the main side, a quadriga driven by Athena, with Apollo, Artemis, and Hermes, while on the opposite side Apollo is depicted playing the lyre in the center together with his sister Artemis and their mother, Latona. Attributed to the painter of Dikaios and dating back to the last twenty years of the 6th century BC, the amphora has a lively decoration with naturalistic details such as the fawn in the background and the bird in flight on the secondary side.
