Pietro Griffo Regional Museum
The Pietro Griffo Archaeological Museum is located in Contrada San Nicola, Agrigento, on the ground floor.
The museum, named after archaeologist Pietro Griffo, is housed in a modern building designed by Franco Minissi in 1967, which incorporates the remains of a 14th-century monastery. Here you can discover the rich collections resulting from excavations and acquisitions, displayed in 17 rooms that trace the history of ancient Akrágas and its vast territory.
In the Heart of the Valley of the Temples
We are immersed in the Archaeological and Landscape Park of the Valley of the Temples, one of the largest archaeological sites in the world, covering 1,300 hectares. This place offers an extraordinary combination of history and nature: you can admire ancient temples surrounded by a unique Mediterranean landscape, characterized by extensive almond groves, centuries-old olive groves, and vineyards, creating a setting of rare beauty.
