On 27 June 2025, the Pietro Griffo Museum will open its doors to an unprecedented cultural experience, thanks to the inauguration of an innovative project dedicated to removing cognitive barriers.

Evento la tecnologia come strumento di inculisivitá

The Pietro Griffo Museum in the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento is ready to usher in an era of unprecedented inclusivity thanks to an integrated project developed by BBS srl. The initiative, in line with the ‘Design for All’ paradigm, aims to make the entire cultural heritage accessible to every visitor, overcoming cognitive and sensory barriers.

At the heart of the project are innovative installations such as Tactile Panels with 3D reproductions of artefacts and Interactive Tactile Maps, both capable of delivering personalised content (audio, LIS video, simplified texts and OpenDyslexic format). These systems interact with NFC Smart Rings distributed to visitors, which, when brought close to the installations, activate the content directly on the personal Mobile Application. The app acts as a central digital guide, allowing visitors to select a specific type of visit (complete, audio, visual or simplified) and providing maps for orientation and a history of the content explored.

The project also includes an informative and accessible website, created according to the new AGID model, available in Italian and English, which presents comprehensive information about the museum and its exhibits, integrating an AI chatbot for user support. Outside, located at the Temple of Juno, an Interactive Multimedia Totem is animated by Telamone, an empathetic and engaging AI avatar with cartoon graphics, which provides information and guidance.

To ensure the success and sustainability of these innovations, in-depth training of museum staff was essential. The sessions covered the use of all devices and best practices on how to behave in situations of physical and cognitive disability, including the basics of Italian Sign Language (LIS).

The inauguration will take place during the conference “Technology as a Tool for Inclusivity”, a significant moment to publicly present these cutting-edge solutions and reaffirm the commitment of the Pietro Griffo Museum and BBS srl to a cultural future accessible to all.
